1zu1 Prototypen Purchases Viper™ and Viper™ Pro SLA® Systems from 3D Systems

1zu1 Prototypen is the First Company in Central Europe to Offer Stereolithographic Rapid Manufacturing Services on a Viper™ Pro SLA® System from 3D Systems

ROCK HILL, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--3D Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: TDSC), a leading provider of 3-D Modeling, Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing solutions, announced today that 1zu1 Prototypen of Dornbirn, Austria, purchased both a Viper™ SLA® System and the first Viper™ Pro SLA® System to offer Stereolithography services in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

Over the past 11 years, 1zu1 (1on1) Prototypen has chosen state-of-the-art technology in order to secure key advantages for its customers. Viper™ and Viper™ Pro SLA® Systems from 3D Systems feature advanced technology for a diverse range of applications. Viper™ Systems have extraordinary part manufacturing capabilities and performance that offer the type of speed, accuracy, surface finish and maximum part-size that is ordinarily associated with CNC machining. These systems provide fast, clean materials changeover as well as remote operation and monitoring. Parts created by the systems have excellent details and definition.

Attaching great importance to innovative solutions, 1zu1 Prototypen has set new standards in prototyping and found a quality, cost-effective solution for its customers in 3D Systems’ Viper™ and Viper™ Pro SLA® Systems. 1zu1 Prototypen has 30 vacuum casters that require perfect, high-precision models to be manufactured quickly.

“By purchasing the best technology and, in particular, by combining both Viper™ Systems, we can offer an optimal service in regard to quality and flexibility,” said Hannes Hämmerle, chief financial officer of 1zu1. “We will be the first company in the German-speaking region to offer services on a Viper™ Pro. This is very exiting and keeps with our pioneering spirit.”

“Our goal is to have all the Rapid Prototyping technologies available in-house,” added Wolfgang Humml, 1zu1 Prototypen’s chief executive officer. “SLA® services are in great demand, particularly for casting processes such as vacuum casting with silicone molds. Thanks to its high-resolution mode and 0.05 mm layers, the Viper™ SLA® is particularly suited to processing small- to medium-sized, high-precision models. If required, the Viper™ Pro manufacturing system can also produce larger, high-quality models in the least possible time.”

“We are excited that a company of the caliber of 1zu1 Prototypen is set to introduce services on a Viper™ Pro System in central Europe,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and chief executive officer. “The demand for manufacturing solutions that can be used to produce larger parts more quickly, more accurately and with a better surface finish is on the rise. By expanding its service range to include the specialized Stereolithography services offered by our new generation of fast, large systems that produce high-resolution models with a perfect surface finish, 1zu1 Prototypen has taken a further step towards securing a leading position in Central Europe.”
