CLEMSON South Carolina universities must collaborate more if this state wants
jobs that challenge graduates and keep them here, University of South Carolina
President Andrew Sorensen said Monday.
"We must all come together and join forces to work on the economy of the
state," Sorensen said.
Enjoy game-day rivalries five days a year, but on the other 360 days, "Get over
it let's find ways we can work together," Sorensen said.
Orange flowers and a tiger decorated the head table at a Clemson Rotary lunch
where Andrew Sorensen talked about transcending traditional rivalries and
increasing collaboration in higher education, but presidents of three other
schools who sat with him agreed with their colleague.
So did some young people on the Clemson campus who said they enjoy the school
spirit but are more concerned about the economy.
