Spiro Institute schedules annual entrepreneurial leadership event
CLEMSON – Successful entrepreneurs from the Carolinas will be recognized on Tuesday, Oct. 23, during the fifth annual Clemson University Master Panel of Entrepreneurs sponsored by the Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m.at the Gunter Theater at the Peace Center in Greenville, the master panel will feature winners and finalists for the Ernst & Young 2007 Carolinas Region Entrepreneur of the Year award competition. The entrepreneurs will share stories from their business experiences and take questions from the audience during a 90-minute panel session. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the speakers and network during a reception following the program.
“Information is a valuable commodity for entrepreneurs,” said Caron St. John, director of the Spiro Institute. “The master panel provides an annual opportunity for entrepreneurs and business professionals to come together and exchange ideas and learn from one another.”
This year’s panel includes:
- Jason Horner of Metal Recycling Services, award recipient in the distribution category;
- Roland Johnson of Piedmont Pharmaceuticals, finalist in the health sciences category;
- Steve Mungo of The Mungo Companies, finalist in the real estate and construction category; and
- Mike Williams of M.R. Williams Inc., finalist in the distribution category.
In June, the Ernst & Young 2007 Carolinas Entrepreneur of the Year winners were announced at a ceremony held in Charlotte for which the Spiro Institute is the master panel patron. In past years, the master panel has drawn 350 to 400 guests, split evenly between Clemson University students and Greenville business community members.
The Master panel is a College of Business and Behavioral Science and Clemson Renaissance Center event.
The Spiro Institute is a unit of the College of Business and Behavioral Science at Clemson. The Institute’s mission is to advance education, research and outreach in entrepreneurial leadership.
