Michelin In Bridgewater Produces Its 100 Millionth Tire
BRIDGEWATER, NS --
Michelin's Bridgewater facility has reached another significant milestone with the production of the facility's 100 millionth tire. The tire is the LTX® A/T2, a new light truck tire design.
"The production of the 100 millionth tire is an important event for everyone here at Michelin in Bridgewater," said Dana LeBlanc, plant manager of Michelin's Bridgewater facility. "Since 1973 the Bridgewater facility has been a leading example throughout Michelin of producing quality tires. Achieving this production milestone again demonstrates how Michelin in Bridgewater is dedicated to being a leader in the manufacturing sector in Nova Scotia."
The Bridgewater facility's 100 millionth tire follows expansion plans announced in July to modernize and increase tire production capacity, as well as an expansion announced in August 2006 for the steel cord products operation at the facility.
"The fact that the production milestone of the 100 millionth tire was reached in less than 35 years shows Bridgewater's long-standing commitment to productivity," said LeBlanc. "It's one more significant achievement for Michelin in Bridgewater."
The LTX® A/T2 is a uniquely designed light truck/SUV tire that provides all the grip and durability expected from an off-road tire while delivering a quiet, comfortable ride. The LTX® A/T2 tire incorporates several Michelin innovations including Michelin Comfort Control Technology™, designed to greatly reduce vibrations and road noise for a quiet ride, and Michelin Advanced MaxTouch Construction™ that creates a tire with the longest tread life in the light truck/SUV tire class. A third steel belt helps to deliver the durability needed to take on the toughest jobs.
Michelin swept the J.D. Power and Associates Original Equipment Awards again in September 2007, ranking highest in customer satisfaction in every segment of the Customer Satisfaction Study. This includes the Luxury/Sport, Pick-up/Full-size Van, Mass Market/Non-Luxury and SUV vehicle based tire segments which the LTX® A/T2 is part of.
Michelin's Bridgewater facility produces steel cord products and tires for cars, light trucks and SUV's. Michelin opened the facility in 1971 beginning with the production of steel cord product and in 1973 followed with its first passenger tire.
