South Caroline World Trade Center Announces New Executive Director

Charleston, SC- The South Carolina World Trade Center (SCWTC) is pleased to announce Ms. Belinda Davis as the new Executive Director, effective November 1, 2007. The South Carolina World Trade Center is on a course for significant growth, as it plans a new building on the North Charleston Convention Center complex and new offerings to promote international trade for South Carolina. An important part of this growth are unique educational programs, utilizing new technology and reaching entrepreneurs, businesses, educators and students in new ways. For this reason, Lisa Callihan, previously Managing Director, will become the Director of Education, to focus on this critical pillar of the SCWTC. Ken Fox, chairman of the SCWTC board has praised Lisa for her hard work, accomplishments and strengthening the SCWTC’s presence in the state.

Ms. Davis brings to the center unique experience, having worked for the City of North Charleston for the past fourteen years in economic development related staff functions. She has also operated her own event and convention planning company. Ms. Davis has been involved as an active member of the SCWTC since 1998, and currently serves on its Executive Committee. Ms. Davis is extremely excited about this new position and the tremendous opportunities ahead.

The SCWTC (www.scwtc.org) is part of the World Trade Centers Association, based in New York City, which consists of 308 world trade centers globally. The SCWTC has three main pillars, Trade Development, Education and Innovation. Its mission is “to promote and support international commerce through education, trade development services and facilitating international business opportunities for companies and individuals in South Carolina.”
