Selah Technologies Solidifies Scientific Team
GREENVILLE, SC) – Selah Technologies, a nanomaterials innovator and manufacturer, has solidified the company’s scientific team with the addition of two senior, nanomaterials scientists who come to the company from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.
Bin Zhao and Hui Hu decided to relocate to the Upstate to bring their knowledge of nanotechnologies, after working on the research team at the Center of Nanophase Material Science at ORNL. “The addition of these senior scientists, who focus specifically on areas of concern for Selah Technologies, round out our scientific team in a meaningful, uplifting way,” said Michael Bolick, President and CEO of Selah Technologies.
Zhao and Hui join Chief Technology officer Andrew Metters and scientist Kyle Raker at Selah.
“As we commercialize the Selah Tubes and Selah Dots™, the expertise, scientific prowess and applied skills of this research team is extremely valuable to our company, our clients and our partners,” Bolick said.
About the Selah Technologies Scientific Team:
Andrew Metters holds a PhD from the University of Colorado. He joined Selah Technologies as Chief Technology Officer in January 2007. Dr. Metters trained as an International Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Jeffrey Hubbell at the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology (ETH) in Zurich Switzerland. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Andrew has published over 30 technical articles and delivered over 60 presentations at regional and international conferences
Bin Zhao holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California. He has completed post-doctoral research in photoluminescent properties of nanotechnologies, having conducted various research projects in related fields for more than twelve years. His work has been published in the 32 academic journal publications including Nanotech and the Dekker Encyclopedia of Nanoscience and Nanotechology.
Hui Hu holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky, is a veteran researcher in material synthesis. In addition to her scientific work at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, She previously worked for SouthWest NanoTechnologies, Inc., where focused on single-walled carbon nanotubes. Her work has been published in 33 academic journals including Composites and Scientific Technology, MacroMolecules and Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
Kyle Raker holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. He is the recipient of a South Carolina Honors College Undergraduate Research Fellowship and a Howard Hughes Research Fellowship.

Selah Technologies (www.SelahTechnologies.com) obtained a worldwide exclusive license in 2006 from Clemson University to develop and commercialize the patent-pending platform nanotechnology Selah Dots™ and Selah Tubes™. Both products were originally conceived via breakthrough platform technologies invented by Professor Ya-Ping Sun’s research team at Clemson University and further developed by Selah Technologies. Multiple industries will benefit from the nanomaterials including life sciences and electronics, Selah officials say.
