FastTracSC Entrepreneur Program Celebrates 500th Participant

Greenville, SC – FastTracSC, an entrepreneurial training program promoting entrepreneurship and small business in South Carolina will reach a statewide milestone by celebrating the classes carrying the program over the 500th participant mark in Greenville at SMG – Carolina First Center Thursday, November 15, 2007.

FastTracSC is a coalition whose members represent the best of entrepreneurial resources in the state by using the FastTrac® programs created by the Kauffman Foundation. The programs are designed to train aspiring and existing entrepreneurs by offering a condensed series of entrepreneurial training programs providing business insights, leadership skills and professional networking connections. Graduates are better prepared to create a new business or expand an existing enterprise. Three FastTracSC programs, FastTrac® NewVenture™, FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ and FastTrac® TechVenture™, are offered throughout the state.

The 62 participants in the Upstate class will help put FastTracSC over the 500 mark. Entrepreneurs in this class include retail store owners, technology companies, as well as individuals in the service and construction industries.

“With 82% of the businesses in South Carolina having less than nine employees, this program helps our state at the core of the business economy. This is a great accomplishment for FastTracSC,” said Vickie Waller, FastTrac Director. “This just shows the exponential growth of the FastTrac® program and the entrepreneurial spirit in South Carolina.”

The FastTrac® celebration will follow the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce GROW conference.
