(GREENVILLE, SC) The Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce today announced that Hank Hyatt, the Chamber’s current director of economic and community research, has been promoted to vice-president of economic development, effective February 1, 2008.

“Hank has been with the Chamber for ten years, and during this tenure the Chamber has moved from actively working business development prospects to carrying out the economic development initiatives of today. His experience, consensus building, style and vision for the future, makes Hank the best person for the job, and I look forward to working with him on this new level,” said Ben Haskew, president and CEO of the Greenville Chamber.

Hyatt, a graduate of Washington and Lee University, has played a significant role in promoting a new economic development paradigm in Greenville. Over the past several years, Hyatt has been involved in launching a talent recruitment program and has coordinated several Inter-Community Visits to highlight promising economic development practices to Greenville’s leadership.

In his new role as vice-president of economic development, Hyatt will be directing the Chamber’s efforts toward advancing business and community prosperity through initiatives in talent recruitment, entrepreneurial development and business retention and expansion. He will also be responsible for the collaborative efforts with the City of Greenville, Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC), universities and other economic development allies.

“My experience at the Chamber has allowed me to work with some wonderful leaders in the Greenville community. I look forward to taking these relationships to a new level so that we continue to positively impact business and community prosperity. As the Chamber enters 2008 under new leadership and with a bold vision, I am excited to be a part of this positive change,” said Hyatt.
