This competition was designed to strengthen and expand Georgia's strategic high-tech clusters by helping a Georgia technology-based start-up company launch its business.
In 2006, Savannah-based Evoca (www.evoca.com), a Web 2.0 company enabling voice on the internet, was chosen among more than 50 entrants as one of four finalists in the inaugural TAG/GRA Business Launch Competition. Other finalists included Diagis of Atlanta, Intrinsic Security of Atlanta, and Reach MD Consult of Augusta.
As TCCa focuses on the creation, growth and attraction of creative and technical businesses, opportunities that support local entrepreneurial efforts are actively marketed. TCCa will walk Savannah's interested entrepreneurs through the application process, furnishing them with the tools and advice that will give them a competitive edge.
"We are monitoring the region for opportunities and when we identify a worthwhile project we will keep the local creative and technology companies informed," says TCCa's Executive Director, Chuck Stallworth.
The contest winner receives a $100,000 cash award courtesy of the GRA and a diverse array of services valued at an additional $200,000. This comprehensive $300,000+ prize is GRA and TAG’s way to reward high-tech entrepreneurship.
Savannah's start-ups launching a new company within targeted technologies and industries in the Creative Coast are invited to contact Jamie Wolf (jwolf@thecreativecoast.org), TCCa's Director of Programs and Services, for more information on how to receive assistance through the application process.
