Parker Receives Prestigious Appointments

Spartanburg, S.C. -- Dr. Darrell Parker, dean of the Johnson College of Business and Economics at the University of South Carolina, has been named to leadership positions for two prestigious higher education organizations.
He is serving on the South Carolina Delegation of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Commission on Colleges is the recognized regional accrediting body in the 11U.S. Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees. The Commission on Colleges is the representative body of the College Delegate Assembly and is charged with carrying out the accreditation process.
Parker has also been named to the Board of the Southern Business Administration Association (SBAA), which is the regional association of collegiate business programs offered by colleges and universities in the southern U.S. The mission of SBAA is to improve management education by providing networking opportunities for business educators, showcasing best practices, promoting innovation in teaching and scholarship, and encouraging leadership in the management of educational programs.
Parker has a Ph.D. in economics and a master’s of science degree in economics both from Purdue University, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from the University of North Carolina-Asheville. He has been at USC Upstate since June 2006.
