“Recipes for Hope” cookbooks on sale now

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 29, 2008 – South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines, Inc. announces its “Recipes for Hope” cookbook – a collection of recipes from individuals involved with the rescue organization – is available for sale. The money raised from the cookbook sales will go directly to buy food and help care for the rescue animals.

“Recipes for Hope” cookbooks are $10 each and can be ordered through www.scequinerescue.org. Shipping and handling is $2.95.

According to Penny Lillis, Upstate representative for South Carolina Awareness and Rescue of Equines, the slumping economy and draught is also affecting horses. The cost of hay per bale has risen from $2.50 to $15 in the past year. During the winter months just one horse, on average, needs 50 bales of hay. Many horses have been left to starve or have been abandoned, because the owners cannot afford to care for them.

“These cookbooks make great gifts and were made with love by horse enthusiasts in the Upstate community,” said Lillis. “People who purchase the cookbook can help save a life.”
