Elliott Davis, LLC Firm Principal Speaks at National Healthcare Conference

GREENVILLE, S.C., Aug. 12, 2008 – Elliott Davis, LLC, one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business advisory firms, announced that firm Principal Ira Bedenbaugh recently served as a guest speaker at the national Allscripts Client Experience (ACE) Transform 08 conference, Aug. 6-8, 2008 in Chicago, Ill.

Allscripts, the host of ACE 2008, is the leading U.S. provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians and other healthcare professionals use to improve patient care. Each year, ACE attracts physicians, CEO’s, CIO’s, administrators and IT leaders around the globe to learn about the latest technology and best practices for healthcare organizations.

Bedenbaugh addressed the audience of more than 75 healthcare leaders with a presentation titled, “Benchmarking Your Billing Department.” His presentation focused on how to measure the effectiveness of the billing departments in healthcare organizations to:

(1) industry specific standards as reported by the Medical Group Managers Association (MGMA);

(2) best in class as evidenced by non-medical entities

(3) internal standards or existing budgets

The presentation focused on helping healthcare leaders evaluate how effectively their billing department operates; how to measure the effect of operational changes; how to monitor trends; how to make everyone in the organization more accountable; and how to use benchmarking to assist in facilitating change in the organization.

As the leader of Elliott Davis’s medical practices group, Bedenbaugh focuses on helping physician practices and hospitals improve how they manage short and long-term financial and operational challenges. His responsibilities include analyzing physician practice infrastructure, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing workflow processes and technologies that increase business performance and address government compliance issues.

Bedenbaugh served previously as a principal of Protime LLC Medical Management Consultant and the practice administrator of The Family Healthcare Center.

Bedenbaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in financial management and a master’s degree in business administration from Clemson University. He is a former member and past president of the Rotary Club of Laurens, S.C.; former board member and past treasurer of the United Way of Laurens County; former board member of the Laurens Chamber of Commerce and former board member of Senior Options, also in Laurens.
