Product development is often long running, milestone-driven, and unstable in quality and duration.

The Carolinas chapter of the Product Development and Management Association and event sponsor VantagePoint invite you to join Doug Powell of Wachovia Bank as he leads an interactive discussion of the available options for process improvement, the fundamentals common to each and how the fundamentals of process improvement apply when examining a company's product development process.

You will:
- Understand the similarities and differences between the major process improvement methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Tatham Systematic Method, etc.).
- Understand the fundamentals of all process improvement techniques.
- Gain basic understanding of the value of stability in a process, taking measures and finding root cause.
- Gain advanced knowledge of the challenges inherent in implementing new or changed process for product development.

You will come from this session with ideas and tips you can put into action immediately.

Doug Powell is a Senior Vice President for Wachovia Treasury Services in Charlotte, NC. Doug received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Kentucky in 1993 and his M.B.A from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995 before working as a programmer in Healthcare IT. He consulted in both Supply Chain and Healthcare before starting with Wachovia in 2002 in Product Solutions for Wachovia's award winning treasury portal, Wachovia Connection. He has lead the Treasury Services product development process improvement initiative for the past two years.
