Down Syndrome Family Alliance of Greenville announces 2008 Buddy Walk

GREENVILLE, S.C., August 26, 2008 – The Down Syndrome Family Alliance (DSFA) of Greenville will host its 2008 Buddy Walk at Furman University’s Herman W. Lay Physical Activities Center on Sunday, September 28. The one-mile walk will begin at 2 p.m., the registration fee is $12 per person, and participants with Down syndrome walk for free.

Funds raised through the Buddy Walk will cover a variety of local services DSFA of Greenville offers, including resources for new parents, educational seminars, as well as therapeutic and recreational programs for individuals with Down syndrome.

“The Buddy Walk promotes acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome,” said Marcy Freeman, president of DSFA of Greenville. “We are excited to host this event again to welcome back those who have supported us in the past, as well as welcome new friends who are participating for the first time this year.”

Nearly 700 people attended the DSFA of Greenville Buddy Walk last year, raising approximately $30,000 to benefit children and families.
