11th annual Bierfest to showcase German cuisine, culture
Authentic German food, beer and entertainment will be on tap at the 11th annual Bierfest on Friday, Sept. 19. Hosted by the German American Chamber of Commerce, SC Chapter, the event will be held at the DowBrands Amphitheatre and in the Wyche Pavilion along the Reedy River from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person; there will also be a $ 1.00 City Wristband charge.
“This year, we have worked extremely hard to accurately portray an event similar to something one would experience in Germany,” said Dave Lewis, director of the South Carolina Chapter of the German American Chamber of Commerce. “From the cuisine to the music, the Bierfest provides a wonderful opportunity for the Greenville community to enjoy a little of the German culture.”
Individuals can relish a variety of food, such as Nutty Bavarian roasted and glazed nuts, pretzels from Hansel and Gretel Bakery and Pommes Frites (fresh fried potatoes), as well as savor nearly a dozen German beers, including Spaten, Oktoberfest & Lager, Paulaner, Beck’s, Warsteiner and Bitburger.
A beer garden will be available for individuals to listen to music, courtesy of the Foothills Oom Pah Band.
There will also be a raffle where participants can win one of 16 door prizes to include BMW’s Ultimate Driving Experience, a free weekend and breakfast for two at the Westin Poinsett, a golf bag from Fletcher BMW and a variety of gift certificates from local retailers and restaurants.
