Aerie Engineering Announces New Line of Business

Greenville, SC – September 16, 2007 – Aerie Engineering, a flexible, full service engineering firm that provides a broad range of technical services, announces the launch of its Knowledge Group, a new line of business that helps companies capture valuable information and intellectual capital from employees and associates before that knowledge leaves the company.

In 2006, Aerie Engineering President, Lori Morton, saw a need her clients had to capture the intellectual capital invested in employees. “I saw that each day, companies I worked with were loosing some of their best assets as employees were transferred, promoted, relocated, laid-off, let go and retiring. Our company developed a process to capture and disseminate the valuable knowledge these employees have, the ‘years between the ears’ so to speak,” says Morton.

Aerie has worked with John Deere, Michelin, and Spartanburg Water previously in the area of Knowledge Capture and announces its recent partnership with Self Regional Healthcare located in Greenwood, SC. Self Regional, like many other organizations, is concerned about the large number of baby boomers reaching retirement age. Thanks to forward thinking managers, such as Mike Dixon, they are addressing this concern through Knowledge Capture.

“It bothered me that people with a ton of institutional knowledge would walk out the door into the sunset never to be heard from again. Aerie’s Knowledge Capture process helped alleviate the angst associated with "what we don't know" and made the transition much more efficient and organized,” says Cheryl Forlines, HR Manager, John Deere Corporation.

As part of its Knowledge Capture process, Aerie Engineering interviews employees, many of whom are in middle management or above, and collects historical documentation, applies document management principals to existing documents, and develops new documentation to safeguard a company’s invaluable intellectual knowledge.

Aerie adds its new Knowledge Capture business group to a wide range of services that include mechanical engineering, machine and manufacturing equipment design and electronic document management. Aerie’s client roster includes a diverse cross-section of industries. Flexible and agile, Aerie offers creative solutions for client needs.
