Adopt-An-Interchange Grant Aids In Creation Of Beautification Project At USC Upstate Entrance
Spartanburg, S.C. – A $200,000 Adopt-An-Interchange Grant from the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the United States Department of Transportation is allowing the University of South Carolina Upstate to plant trees and shrubs at its front entrance along I-585 that connects East Campus Boulevard and Lone Oak Road.
According to Bruce Suddeth, director of landscape services at USC Upstate, the grant is funding the installation of an irrigation system and all the plant materials, including everything from daylilies to large trees.
“USC Upstate is providing the staff time needed to plant and maintain all the landscaping,” said Suddeth. “Once this project is completed, this is going to be a magnificent interchange and will certainly serve as an obvious entrance to the University.”
