Thomas Elliott appointed to the Midlands Technical College Commission

Thomas E. Elliott, former Richland County Treasurer, has been appointed to serve on the Midlands Technical College Commission. The Midlands Technical College Commission is a 12-member board representing the college’s service area. Members are appointed by the governor, upon the recommendation of their respective legislative delegations, to serve as trustees for the college.

Elliott is a merchant-farmer and owner of the Columbia East Driving Range on Garners Ferry Road. Previously, Elliott served 18 years as Richland County Treasurer, two terms in the South Carolina Legislature, and four years on Richland County Council. Elliott, graduate of Dreher High School, is married to Gertrude Bultman Elliott and is a parent, grandparent and great-grandparent.

Midlands Technical College is a comprehensive, multi-campus, public, two-year college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina. The college enrolls approximately 16,000 credit students annually, and provides continuing education to 30,000 individuals and hundreds of area businesses each year. MTC is the largest provider of transfer students to the University of South Carolina.
