JOSH MARTIN
PROGRAM DIRECTOR COASTAL CONSERVATION LEAGUE- MODERATOR
Prior to joining the League in 2008, Josh was the Director of Planning, Preservation, and Economic Innovation for the City of Charleston, South Carolina. His focus at the League includes the promotion of sustainable urbanism, including high performance infrastructure, codes, settlement patterns, and environmental protection. Josh earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College in 1998 and a Masters in City and Regional Planning with an urban design focus in 2001 from Clemson University. Following graduate school, Josh served as Senior Planner, Community Development Director, and Town Manager for the Town of Bluffton, South Carolina. A native of Kentucky with family in Beaufort County, Josh enjoys tennis, snow skiing, music, and traveling to experience the myriad of built environments around the world.

Rich Estes is the owner of Island Oaks Development, LLC., a leader in the Charleston community in sustainable development and consulting, and the Development Managing Partner of Battery Island Row, home of the 2009 Green Idea Home. Rich’s experience in operating a successful local custom home building company over the past decade led him to pursue his passion of building eco-friendly and sustainable built homes and communities.
Builder of Charleston area’s first certified Energy Star home in 2002 on Daniel Island, Rich now focuses his efforts on molding his investment partners and home buyers into the USGBC’s LEED rating system. Rich’s mission is to provide residential consumers a spectrum of price points and products including affordable/workforce housing in unique environmentally sensitive communities.

Tim Watson is Senior Vice President of National Sales, including wholesale and preferred builder sales, at Haven Custom Homes. In his role, he oversees and develops builder relationships throughout the Southeastern United States as well as manages a regional sales team. Prior to joining the company, Watson was head of the Idea House Program for Southern Living magazine from 1999 through 2006. In addition, he executed the design and construction of more than 30 showhomes for Southern Living and Cooking Light magazine. Watson was a long-time consultant to Southern Accents, Cottage Living, Coastal Living, and Essence magazines. He also has industry experience as a former homebuilder in Louisville, Ky., and Atlanta, Ga.

Jeff Cole grew up as the son of an Air Force hero who was killed on a classified assignment in the middle east. Jeff pursued a journalism a career after graduating from the University of South Florida in Tampa, and he spent nearly 15 years on Madison Avenue working with national progressive media companies such as National Geographic, National Parks, Audubon, Sierra, MotherJones, Village Voice and NYPress. Jeff owned a cause-related media firm, Media Roots, which specifically developed multi-market, multi-media national advertising campaigns for sustainable consumers.
In 2005 Jeff left his job as the publisher and C.O.O. of NYPress Newspaper and he moved his family out of Manhattan to Atlanta where he hoped to pursue a new career in green building. However; he quickly noticed the opportunity that existed for a national green loan finance program that leaned heavily on social finance models. Further, he recognized that the market needed to be completely transformed in order to facilitate the shift away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy. As a result, he founded myEnergyLoan, which has become the nations leading green loan program in the country.

Steve deGuzman is the Broker In Charge and founder of the rēhava ~ Real Estate Store. Steve was born and raised here in the Lowcountry and graduated from the J.
