Dixon Hughes Holds Steady for Boys and Girls Clubs

The challenging economy notwithstanding, Dixon Hughes PLLC, ranked as one of the Country’s top-20 CPA firms, has again elected to add to the initial monies it contributed last fall to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate. The support results from a volunteer fundraising project the firm carries out annually with the cooperation of The Carolina Panthers.

The project itself, which involved Dixon Hughes' employee-volunteers soliciting donations from visitors to The Panthers' Training Camp in Spartanburg over a three-week period, raised $5,101.50 for the Clubs. Dixon Hughes has contributed an additional $4,000 that will both enhance the earlier effort and support The Clubs' current "Great Kids" advertising campaign. The total contribution from Dixon Hughes is $9,101.50, exclusive of the billable hours contributed in-kind by its 50-plus participating volunteers from throughout the Western Carolinas Region.

Greg Tolbert, President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate, commenting on the added gift said, "These are tough times for all non profits. That Dixon Hughes has been steadfast in its support means a lot to us. The challenges we face in helping kids stay in school and stay off the streets remains. If anything, they're greater in this tough economy. The fact that supporters like Dixon Hughes know that and stay with us makes all the difference."

Commenting on the latest gift, Dixon Hughes’ Spartanburg Managing Member Michael D. Trammell noted, "We try not to be fair-weather friends, even in challenging economic times. We know the good work this money will make possible. We're proud of our association with The Carolina Panthers on this project and of what together we've been able to do for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate."
