COLUMBIA, S.C. - The South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) will hold its Twelfth Annual Nonprofit Conference, New Ways of Thinking: Collaborate, Change, Results April 29 – May 1, 2009, at the Spartanburg Marriott at Renaissance Park in Spartanburg, S.C. This year’s conference is presented by Denny’s, Inc. Anyone is welcome to register for the conference.

Now more than ever, nonprofits need to come together to network and strengthen the capacity of their organizations. The SCANPO Annual Conference is the only statewide event where national speakers and statewide experts convene to educate and inspire our foundation leaders, corporate giving officers, nonprofit executives and professionals working daily in our communities. There will be 24 professional development workshops available throughout the three day conference with topics ranging from organizational management, grant writing, fundraising, marketing and communication, financial management and more. There will also be site visits which explore successful public/private partnerships.

Up to 7.5 hours of Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification can be earned as well as up to 15 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for Certified Public Accountants.

The keynote speakers include Katya Andresen, chief operating officer of Network for Good and author of Robin Hood Marketing: Stealing Corporate Savvy to Sell Just Causes, Lois Lerner director of the exempt organizations in the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division of the Internal Revenue Service and Dr. Benjamin Bernard Dunlap, president of Wofford College.

SCANPO will recognize the 2009 Excellence in Nonprofit Management recipients as well as the 2009 Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership.
