Open Source Software (OSS) leaders from throughout the southeast will converge on Columbia, SC for the second annual Palmetto Open Source Software Conference. The conference will be held at USC’s Swearingen Engineering Center on Saturday, April 18 and is a follow-up to last year’s incredibly successful event.

Open Source Software (OSS) is one of the most important and relevant topics in IT today because it presents a tremendous opportunity for small and large organizations to reduce IT budgets while maintaining functionality, security, and scalability. However, it is not for everyone and there are issues that should be considered before implementation.

The conference will showcase a Keynote Address by Red Hat CIO Lee Congdon and feature presentations from other noted IT and business leaders such as Ravi Ravindra of BlueCross BlueShield, Keith Bergelt of Open Inventors Network, Greg DeKoenigsberg of Red Hat, Tom Persons of The South Carolina Technology Council, and Lonnie Emard of The Consortium for Enterprise Systems Management. Special tracks for Business leaders and Developers/Programmers will also be offered.

Attendance is free, but you should register as soon as possible through the website as seating is limited. Additional information about the Palmetto Open Source Software Conference can be found online at www.posscon.org.
