April 17: Leaders from NASA, IDEO, Clemson and Jute Networks at HATCH Asheville this week
An innovative creative arts festival—known as HATCHfest—takes place in Asheville, NC this week. Featuring speakers from seven different disciplines, HATCH brings in “mentors” and “groundbreakers” to work together in each discipline. The disciplines are: Film, Journalism, Photography, Architecture, Music, Fashion and Design & Technology.
The HATCH model gives people the opportunity to connect directly with world-renowned innovators in each field, which helps people grow trusted relationships with each other in person—and they can followup online. It's a lot like the Jute model.
The D&T discipline mentors are: Evan Twyford, an industrial designer working in NASA’s Habitability Design Center; Joe Wilcox, toy inventor at IDEO and former NASA mechanisms specialist; Manuel Lima, interaction designer, information architect, researcher and founder of VisualComplexity.com; Scott Pagano, a filmmaker, motion designer and spatial reconstructionist; and noted VJ Rob Pope, who is one of two members of VJ Duo Dijjital Ambiance.
I have been invited to moderate the Design & Technology Panel on Friday April 17 from 3:00-5:00pm in the Innovator's Lounge downtown on Wall Street. If you have questions you'd like to ask these extraordinary mentors, send them to me. I'm going to ask one of the submitted questions on stage.
You can purchase tickets, see a complete schedule and a full list of mentors from every discipline at http://www.ashevillehatchfest.org
