TeleHealth Services and UNC-TV Partner to Bring New Channel to North Carolina Children’s Hospitals
Raleigh, NC - April 30, 2009 - TeleHealth Services, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare on-demand patient and staff education, healthcare televisions and communications solutions, has announced a joint initiative with UNC-TV, North Carolina’s member supported, 11-station statewide television network, to bring UNC-KD, a new digital TV channel providing programs for children 24 hours a day, to children’s hospitals throughout North Carolina.
To make the UNC-KD service more accessible, TeleHealth Services will absorb the cost of adding UNC-KD to the current line-up of programming at children’s hospitals throughout North Carolina.
Tom Howe, UNC-TV’s Director and General Manager said “We are delighted to be able to extend this offer, in partnership with TeleHealth Services, to children’s hospitals in North Carolina. We believe this offer will be a welcome service to both children and parents during a stressful time and we are grateful to TeleHealth Services for making it possible.”
"We're pleased to make UNC-KD, a wonderful channel of high-quality, commercial-free educational children's programming, available to children's hospitals in North Carolina,” said George Fleming, President and CEO of TeleHealth Services’ parent corporation and member of the UNC-TV Board of Trustees. “Public television exists to serve the public interest, and this is a great example of how public-private partnerships can bring the benefits of new technology to children in need. This initiative also helps advance TeleHealth’s goal of introducing digital television to hospitals in North Carolina and around the country.”
