Continental Introduces New Long Mileage Drive Tire
INDIAN LAND, S.C. (April 1, 2009) – Responding to truck tire customers’ requests for a long mileage drive tire, Continental Tire North America, Inc. (CTNA) today released its newest over-the-highway long haul drive tire, the HDL2 DL.
Continental’s all-new HDL2 DL (Heavy Drive Long-Haul Deep Lug) meets today’s long-haul truck driver’s needs for maximum removal mileage, while offering attractive wear characteristics, said Clif Armstrong, director of marketing for CTNA – The Americas. The HDL2 DL is produced in Continental’s award-winning Mount Vernon, Ill. plant and features its deepest truck tire tread offering at 32/32” depth.
The HDL2 DL’s closed shoulder tread design provides excellent traction in both wet and dry road conditions and resists irregular wear. An innovative lug angle provides outstanding traction throughout the life of the original tire, and a wider casing increases handling stability. Continental also featured its patented groove technology on this new tire, which reduces stone retention and casing penetrations.
“Continental’s truck tire customers recognize the need for long-lasting equipment, especially in today’s market conditions when long original miles factor in choosing a tire that will perform to their
standards. With the new HDL2 DL, we’re now offering them a full inch of tread depth that gives them maximum mileage for their long-haul applications,” Armstrong said.
The new HDL2 DL can be ordered now through Continental truck tire dealers and is available in the following sizes:
• 11R22.5
• 275/80R22.5
• 11R24.5
• 285/75R24.5
