The Carbon Edge: Making Stimulus Dollars Work For You
Cost: No Charge, Lunch Provided, Reservation Required
The Innovate Building, 148 River St., Greenville
11:30am-1pm
With the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the world of energy innovation and programs has expanded by multipliers we could not have imagined. For example the State Energy Program (SEP), a Department of Energy program appropriated through Congress, has gone from $463,000 in 2008 to $50,550,000 for the South Carolina Energy Office just for general energy programs which can include energy efficiency and renewables. This is the tip of the iceberg. The funding is complex but the opportunities are extraordinary. Ben Taube, Executive Director of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) will discuss the business community opportunities for energy programs, projects, and policies. He will explore direct grant options, technologies available for investment, tax credits both to the investor and producers of clean energy, the local government opportunities, and interest free bonding opportunities. His talk will provide the framework and direction for new innovation in energy markets. To register, contact Shelley Robbins at (864) 327-0090 or srobbins@upstateforever.org.
The Carbon Edge is a new lunch series designed to spark ideas and give Upstate businesses a creative and competitive edge in the emerging energy technology era.
