Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands 6th Annual Rubber Duck Race
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands is gearing up to celebrate the 6th Annual Rubber Duck Race in conjunction with BGCM’s 50th anniversary. Sponsored by BI-LO and First Citizens, festivities will be hosted at Saluda Shoals Park. With 29 Clubs in the Midlands, BGCM is welcoming Club Members, their families and the public to join in the fun.
WHEN: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., rain or shine.
WHERE: Saluda Shoals Park, 5605 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC.
WHAT: Launch rubber ducks, available for purchase at Midlands-area First Citizens branches or BI-LO store locations for $5 each, in an exciting race down the Saluda River. Winning duck owners will win prizes. Bring your duck for free admission to the park. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands.
Free food, games and entertainment for the whole family. Saluda Splash, a water playground, will also be open and wristbands for entrance are available for $3 each.
SCHEDULE:
1 p.m. – Duck race registration begins
3 p.m. – Ducks launched in Saluda River
3:30 p.m. – Winning ducks are plucked from the river
4 p.m. – Winners announced
PRIZES: 1st place - $1000, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place - $250, and many more!
