Kristie Bohm Byrum Named AWC Communicator of Year
GREENVILLE, SC, May 21, 2009 – Kristie Bohm Byrum, President and CEO of The Byrum Innovation Group, Inc., has been chosen as winner of the 2009 Communicator of the Year by the Greenville Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.
Chapter President Ellen Norman presented the award to Byrum at the organization’s May 22, 2009, Matrix Awards ceremony. Byrum, APR, is a recognized leader in South Carolina for her professional and entrepreneurial achievements for helping to shape the Knowledge Economy in the state and for her community contributions.
“This 19-year veteran of the communications profession has used her achievements and accomplishments as a leader, an innovator and a professional not only to advance her clients but more importantly to advance her community and profession,” Norman said, citing the award nomination. “Today, Kristie Bohm Byrum, APR, is recognized as a leading professional and Knowledge Economy advocate, a community leader among nonprofits, and a recognized executive and lecturer in her profession.”
Throughout her career, Kristie Bohm Byrum has been an achiever and leader in the field of communications and in business -- as a journalist in Greenville, a corporate executive for a technology start-up, as a marketing agency executive, a community leader for her work with InnoVision and Artisphere, and as founder of three successful marketing and communications companies. In 2006, Byrum founded The Byrum Innovation Group (BIG), a strategic marketing and communications firm that delivers Silicon Valley success to innovative, global companies operating in the Southeast.
Byrum has been repeatedly recognized for these achievements on local and national levels. Most recently, she was the only person in the nation to receive two awards that recognized her entrepreneurism:
