Slow Food Columbia Benefit at Terra Will Highlight Local Food, Farms and Culinary Traditions
WHAT: With an inventive tasting menu completely created with local produce and ingredients paired with wine tasting, Terra and Chef Mike Davis will host Slow Food Columbia’s 2009 fundraiser and membership drive. Slow Food Columbia is part of over 200 Slow Food chapters nationwide that works to inspire a transformation in food policy, production practices and market forces so that they ensure equity, sustainability and pleasure in the food we eat.
WHEN: Thursday, August 13, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
WHERE: Terra, 100 State Street, West Columbia – Just over the Gervais Street Bridge.
MORE: Columbia’s All-Local Farmers’ Market will also participate in the fundraiser. And although Terra’s menu regularly features local, South Carolina grown foods and ingredients, Chef Mike Davis will unveil a truly local dish at the fundraiser – all ingredients have been found within 15 miles of the restaurant. Ticket prices are still being finalized, but Slow Food Columbia members will receive a discount.
INTERVIEWS: Chef Mike Davis of Terra and representatives from Slow Food Columbia are available to speak about the event and local food. To arrange an interview, contact Katie Alice Cox at (803) 227-0914 or kcox@rileycommunications.com.
