Local Realtors Earn National Green Designation

Doug Becker, Maggie Worsham and Fritzi Barbour of Coldwell Banker Caine’s Downtown Greenville office recently were among the first in South Carolina to earn the National Association of Realtors (NAR’s) Green Designation, the only green real estate professional designation recognized by NAR.

Becker, Worsham and Barbour achieved the designations by completing course work that ensured comprehensive knowledge about green homes and buildings, along with issues of sustainability in relation to real estate. With this training, they will be able to assist clients in evaluating the cost benefits of purchasing or marketing a green home.

“Earning this voluntary designation shows that these sales associates are thinking innovatively for their clients,” says Brad Halter, President of Coldwell Banker Caine. “Consumer interest continues to grow in regard to energy and cost-efficient homes. Earning a designation such as this prepares these realtors to supply home buyers and sellers with pertinent information about green housing.”

Becker possesses more than 30 years of experience in working with large companies and individuals in delivering customer service in the Greenville area. He previously was owner of Xtreme Printing (formerly Insty Prints) for 27 years and worked with Milliken & Company prior to that. While at the printing company, he was chosen by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce as “Small Business Person of the Year.” Becker is a graduate of Furman University, and recently was named 2008 Rookie of the Year for Coldwell Banker Caine’s Downtown Greenville office.

Worsham, a Clemson resident, has been a real estate professional for six years. She has lived in the Upstate since 1997. Prior to her real estate career, she worked for a major U.S. airline for 30 years, and two years in the public school system. She is a Clemson graduate and currently serves on the Clemson University Foundation Board, is past Chair of the Board of Visitors and Women’s Council, and is an IPTAY Representative. She has been involved in volunteer work for her church, the Boy Scouts of America, and Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the Greenville International Alliance for Professional Women and serves on the Board of the Women’s Club of the International Center of the Upstate.

Barbour is Vice President and Broker-in-Charge of Coldwell Banker Caine’s downtown Greenville office. Licensed since 1983, she is one of only a few brokers in the area that holds all three of the following professional designations: Certified Residential Brokerage Manager, Certified Residential Specialist, and Graduate of the Realtor Institute. She is president of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors (GGAR) and currently is a board member of the S.C. Association of Realtors (SCAR). A Simpsonville resident, Barbour has worked with Coldwell Banker Caine since 2000.

Coldwell Banker Caine consists of five residential Upstate offices with 200 full-time sales associates serving Greenville, Spartanburg, Oconee, and Pickens counties. The company is ranked in the Top 2 Percent of all Coldwell Banker’s 1,232 firms internationally.
