Waldrop Heating and Air Conditioning Expands Upstate Operations, Establishes Greenville Office

Spartanburg-based Waldrop Heating & Air Conditioning, in business since 1970, has opened an office in Greenville to support its plans for growth into the Greenville metropolitan area. James Phillips will lead the local operation’s sales and marketing efforts from the new office located on Cessna Court near the Greenville Downtown Airport. Company leadership expects to add both administrative and service staff within the next year, possibly creating up to six new jobs.

Waldrop’s physical presence in Greenville not only positions the company for growth in the residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installation and service business, but also provides an opportunity for Waldrop Mechanical Services, the company’s commercial construction and service division, to enhance its presence in the area.

Waldrop’s geographic expansion is part of the firm’s strategic plan to further accelerate its status as one of the Upstate’s – and the state’s – most successful mechanical contracting businesses by leveraging its full range of services in a dynamic market. Waldrop is one of only a select few South Carolina HVAC/mechanical contractors featured on the 2009 list of Top Specialty Contractors recently published by Southeast Construction magazine.

“The steady increase we’ve seen in business opportunities in the Greenville metro area was a key factor in our decision to expand,” noted Bill Caldwell, Waldrop Inc.’s vice president of operations. “Establishing a formal presence in Greenville is a significant step in our plan to expand our overall business – residential and commercial – on a regional level. We see a local presence in the Greenville area as an important step in making sure Waldrop is well positioned to be a part of the Upstate’s long-term growth and success.”

Waldrop will mark its 40th anniversary in 2010 with a variety of customer appreciation specials and promotions throughout the year.
