Spirit Telecom Has 'No Static' with its New Social Media Campaign

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Spirit Telecom is putting a new twist on telecommunications with the launch of its social media campaign, aimed at providing businesses with useful and entertaining information, tips and ideas related to business communications.

Based in Columbia, S.C., Spirit Telecom provides Internet, data and communications services to businesses in North and South Carolina. The company has a Twitter account, YouTube channel and blog under the name "No Static," which focuses on clearing the lines about what businesses need to communicate in the 21st Century. Taking a lighthearted approach with a tech-heavy subject, Spirit Telecom is using social media tools as a way to make business communication fun – and even funny.

"We reviewed the statistics on the usage of social media and explored ways we could use it to enhance Spirit's position in the marketplace," says Terry Metze Jr., executive vice president of business development and strategy. "Twitter, YouTube and a blog are efficient ways to expand the reach of our services and complement our traditional marketing."

Some of the content so far includes an entertaining music video on "What not to do during a video conference," a blog post on the benefits of fiber as well as regular telecommunications trivia on Twitter. Also, the YouTube channel features the "No Static Show," which explains Spirit Telecom products and services and how they can benefit businesses through improved productivity and cost savings. Upcoming content will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the Spirit Telecom data center and provide tips on recording good voice mail messages.
