Caine Halter Lungs for Life Run/Walk to be Held Nov. 14

The second annual Caine Halter Lungs for Life 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Walk will be held Saturday,
Nov. 14 at the YMCA of Greenville--Caine Halter Family Branch at 721 Cleveland St. This year’s event also will feature a FREE ¼ mile Fun Run for children ages 6 and under.

The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the 1-Mile Fun Walk will begin at 9 a.m. The ¼ mile Fun Run for children will be held at 8:45 a.m. Advanced registration fees for the event are $27 for the Run/Walk and $15 for the Fun Walk. No registration is required and there is no cost for the ¼ mile Fun Run – children are just asked to show up the day of the event.

The race is being held in honor of Caine Halter, an active member of the Greenville community and local businessman who was President of Coldwell Banker Commercial Caine. Halter was a non-smoker who lost a 13-month battle with lung cancer in August 2007.

All proceeds of the event will go to Uniting Against Lung Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for lung cancer. Last year’s event raised more than $264,000 and had almost 1,800 participants.
