Minority Business Enterprise Summit Kicks Off Thursday

GREENVILLE, SC, October 6, 2009 – Upwards of 100 diverse businesses from across the Carolinas are expected to convene in Greenville Thursday, October 8 for the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC)’s third annual Minority Business Summit at the Greenville Marriott Hotel.

The conference, which kicks off with a continental breakfast and registration at 7:30a.m., is engineered to provide a series educational workshops for business owners and to provide an organized networking forum to help minority businesses increase economic growth opportunities.

A series of educational workshops and discussion groups on marketing, business strategy, human resources and finance will follow the breakfast. Lunch will feature a presentation by noted architectural trailblazer Curtis Moody, President/CEO and partner in Moody-Nolan, Inc. The afternoon session will feature an open forum where attending businesses can meet directly with major organizations from across the Carolinas to “pitch” their capabilities and credentials. Among the organizations expected to be on hand are Michelin, BMW, Milliken, Lockheed Martin, Denny’s, BI-LO, Womble Carlyle, Wachovia/Wells Fargo, Food Lion, and Progress Energy.

“The key to our global success will be leaders who understand that promoting and supporting the development of minority business enterprises (MBEs) not only helps the business community, but is essential to regional competitiveness,” said Ray Lattimore, CEO of Marketplace Staffing of Greenville, and one of the host organizations for the Minority Business Summit. “We all benefit when business owners and leaders from across the Carolinas come together to discuss how to continue increasing opportunities for minority-owned enterprises.”

The MBE Summit extends from 9am – 4pm on Thursday, October 8 at the Greenville Marriott.
