SC 4-H Clubs Celebrate National 4-H Week

October 4-10, South Carolina 4-H clubs (http://www.clemson.edu/extension/4h/) are celebrating National 4-H Week (http://4-h.org/b/Pages/Layouts/GroupPage2889.html), engaging potentially thousands of youth in hands-on, experiential learning and service activities. The goal is to recognize the accomplishments of the 100-year-old program and the impact it has made on communities throughout the state.

Nationally, nearly 6 million 4-H members and over 500,000 adult and youth volunteers celebrate their involvement in 4-H. Thousands of youth across South Carolina participate in local activities focused on three main mission areas: science, engineering and technology; healthy living and citizenship.

Studies show that children who participate in 4-H for at least one year by 8th grade are 3-and-a-half times more likely to contribute to their families, themselves and their communities.

A highlight of National 4-H Week is 4-H National Youth Science Day (https://www.4-h.org/NYSD/) which will be celebrated October 7. On that day, youth in South Carolina and nationwide will be engaged in a variety of science experiments and activities.
