Materials Challenges in Alternative and Renewable Energy 2010 Conference - February 21, Cocoa Beach, FL
Materials Challenges in Alternative & Renewable Energy 2010 is a new conference that will facilitate information sharing on the latest developments in alternative and renewable energy sources & systems involving materials. Visit the conference website at www.ceramics.org/energy2010 to learn more.
Hosted in Cocoa Beach, FL, February 21-25, Energy 2010 is for not only those active in energy & materials science research, but also anyone interested in current materials-related opportunities associated with alternative/renewable energy.
Energy 2010 features tutorials and invited presentations on materials challenges research in Solar, Wind, Hydropower, Geothermal, Biomass, Nuclear, Hydrogen, and Battery Technology, along with technical sessions addressing state-of-the-art materials issues. Three premier organizations - The American Ceramic Society, ASM International and Society of Plastics Engineers - have joined forces to co-sponsor this important global conference.
The demand for energy is anticipated to more than double in the next 50 years. Diminishing supply and insecure sources of traditional energy sources are compounded by environmental concerns involving pollution and global warming threats. It is imperative that all nations develop alternative and renewable energy sources for the future. Our future energy economy will include a combination of many energy sources and energy storage methods that will be vary by region depending on the natural resources and capabilities.
The overall efficiency, effectiveness and practicality of potential future energy sources and systems are directly related to many materials related factors. Some of these key features include materials costs, availability and improvements in chemical, mechanical, electrical and/or thermal properties of materials now being considered, as well as the ability to produce and fabricate materials in forms and shapes that work effectively in areas of energy generation, storage and distribution.
