USGBC SC Chapter, Upstate Branch 2010 Steering Committee Elections
The Upstate Branch Steering Committee has eight positions available for 2010.
They will be elected via online balloting and the winners will be introduced at the Branch's Annual Business Meeting in December, 2009. The five members receiving the most votes will be elected to a 2-year term. The next three will fill Committee vacancies for a 1-year term. There are two Committee members which will remain through 2010 to complete their current 2-year term.
If elected to the USGBC-SC Chapter Upstate Branch Steering Committee, you will commit to the following basic responsibilities as requested:
- Help determine/direct the organization's mission and purpose
- Ensure effective organizational planning
- Ensure adequate resources
- Manage resources effectively
- Determine, monitor, and strengthen the organizations programs and services
- Enhance the organization's public standing
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability
- Recruit and orient new members and assess steering committee performance
If elected, you will also commit to the following specific responsibilities reflected in the election materials:
- Remain a Chapter Member in good standing
- Contribute knowledge and experience to help ensure the success of Branch programs and to help determine the priorities and needs of the Branch
- Help influence key players and sectors in the industry including the high priority sectors of real estate, corporate, energy/utility, finance, residential and product manufacturers
- Help recruit new members for the USGBC-SC Chapter (membership in a Branch is through the Chapter)
- Be willing to serve as a committee chair as needed
- Help secure funding for the Branch's programs through sponsorships, corporate and charitable sources, and other significant sources of funding
- Agree to abide by the USGBC's conflict of interest policy
- Attend at least 10 of the Chapter/Branch meetings each year
- USGBC-SC Chapter Upstate Branch Bylaws, Strategic Long Range Plan and Steering Committee Roster

During the November 19, 2009 Branch meeting, each nominee will be given a few minutes to briefly describe who they are and their responses to the Qualification Statement. Elections will be held online at the National website www.usgbc.org. Only USGBC-SC Chapter Members are eligible and allowed to vote. All Chapter Members will receive an email from USGBC instructing them how to vote. Steering Committee terms will begin January 1, 2010. Results will be sent out via email as soon as the elections are certified by the Chapter Board of Directors.
