Network Controls and Electric To Help Clemson Lighting Go Green

GREENVILLE, SC, November 10, 2009 – Network Controls and Electric – a leading supplier of cabling and electrical infrastructure -- will help Clemson University lighting go green in a major retrofitting project in collaboration with Graybar Electric Co. of Greenville.
Network Controls and Electric will retrofit ballasts and lamps across the University’s main campus. The project encompasses retrofitting 10,000 ballasts and 26,000 lamps on the campus. The project involves changing current fixtures from older, less efficient T-12 ballasts and lamps to the more efficient T-8 ballasts and lamps.
“Clemson will derive many benefits from the retrofitting beyond improved lighting conditions. T-8 ballasts and lamps will help reduce the carbon footprint of the University,” Brad Cunningham, CEO of Network Controls and Electric, said. “Not only will Clemson reduce energy usage but it also will reduce its operating expenses.”
All colleges and universities are eligible for federal government incentives to improve the efficiency of their lighting and to reduce their carbon footprints, Cunningham said.
The project, with Graybar as the primary supplier, began in October and should conclude by late December.
Network Controls and Electric is working on another Clemson University project with SYS Constructors on the Doug Kingsmore Stadium Addition. The addition of 1,000 seats is part of the ongoing renovations at the Tiger baseball stadium. The Thomas F. Chapman Grandstand, located behind the left field fence, is under construction, with completion expected prior to the 2010 season.
