College of Charleston Names New Provost
College of Charleston President P. George Benson today announced the appointment of George W. Hynd as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the College of Charleston.
Hynd is currently Senior Vice Provost for Education and Innovation, and Dean and Director of the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education at Arizona State University.
He will join the College on January 11, 2010.
“The selection of George Hynd comes at the beginning of an important and exciting era for the College,” said President Benson. “With the Board of Trustees’ recent approval of our new Strategic Plan, we are about to begin the exciting and challenging work of executing the plan. I am confident that George Hynd is exactly the right individual to lead our academic programs toward the plan’s envisioned future.”
Hynd will be responsible for faculty, academic programs and institutional assessment.
