Verizon Wireless Held Groundbreaking Event for New $40 Million Customer Service Center

COLUMBIA, SC - December 17, 2009 - Verizon Wireless held a groundbreaking event on Thursday, December 16th at the site of its future $40 million state-of-the-art customer service facility. The company plans to relocate its Call Center and 1,500 employees from its current Forest Acres location to Spears Creek Church Road in Elgin in the fourth quarter of 2010. The new facility will better equip Verizon Wireless to meet its growing customer demand. At today's groundbreaking event, which drew company executives, elected officials and community leaders, Verizon Wireless also presented a gift of $5,000 to Harvest Hope Food Bank to help those in need.
