Smith Moore Leatherwood Attorney Launches NC’s First Zoning and Land Use Blog
GREENSBORO, NC – January 12, 2010 – Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP attorney Tom Terrell has launched the state’s first blog dedicated to zoning and land use matters. The blog, NCLegalLandscapes.wordpress.com, focuses on issues related to land development, urban growth and environment, along with information on regulation by various state and local governments.
From legislative updates to editorials on headline news, Terrell provides a variety of information aimed at readers involved, and interested in, land development and government regulation. While the blog offers educated commentary on zoning, environment and development matters, the site also includes Terrell’s insightful, poignant and occasionally humorous content regarding a wider variety of issues and headline news.
Throughout the state, Terrell is regarded as a leading authority on complex development agreements. A partner and leader in Smith Moore Leatherwood’s Greensboro office, he focuses his practice in the areas of commercial and residential real estate development, concentrating on local government regulations affecting business expansion and other zoning matters. He also is involved in environmental matters related to surface waters and the regulation of solid waste (landfills) and telecommunications.
Locally, Terrell is on the Board of Directors for the High Point Chamber of Commerce and is former chair of the High Point Core City Board – the group working to redevelop an 11 square mile area adjacent to the city’s central business district. He is also a founding member of the Zoning, Planning and Land Use Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and has been routinely selected by his peers for inclusion in Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America listing for his work in land use and zoning law.
Terrell holds an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
