Rock Creek Craftsmen Attends Haiti USAID Conference
For Release 1/2/10
Kevin Meek, President of Rock Creek Craftsmen has been invited to the USAID conference in Washington DC to participate in solutions for the challenging task of providing housing to the population in Haiti. Rock Creek is ready to deliver over 100 housing units made from shipping containers for immediate use.
Over time Mr. Meek hopes to build a factory in Haiti to build houses from used shipping containers delivering aid to the devastated country. These structures are sturdy, easy to build and cost effective emergency housing.
Teaming with local suppliers Mr. Meek has tapped into a design of a home that can be built by a local crew using simple tools in four days. This technology has been used in construction of commercial and residential building in the United States and is stronger than conventional building techniques. Rock Creek is hopeful to lead local crews partnering with Haitian Crews to deliver housing as fast as possible.
Rock Creek Craftsmen is a Design / Build firm in Charleston South Carolina and is registered with the Government as a contractor for residential building, repairs and design services. Rock Creek has worked on multiple restoration projects in the Charleston area.
