Richard Childress to be Keynote Speaker at Five Ventures - Registration Now Underway - 4/13

CHARLOTTE – March 11, 2010 - Richard Childress will be the keynote speaker for the 2010 Five Ventures® Business Competition, April 13. A NASCAR legend, viticulturist and philanthropist, Childress will speak about his journey as an entrepreneur.

Childress is the president and chief executive officer of Richard Childress Racing (RCR), a twelve-time NASCAR championship-winning organization. More than 400 dedicated motorsports professionals work at the RCR complex, located in Welcome, N.C., near Winston-Salem. The 500, 000 square-foot facility houses Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, the performance engine production company that built the 2010 Daytona 500 winner.

In addition to his fulltime racing career, Childress is the proprietor of Childress Vineyards in Lexington, N.C. which has earned numerous prestigious industry awards.

As one of North Carolina’s most recognized entrepreneurs, Childress was awarded NASCAR’s 2008 Home Depot Humanitarian of the Year Award for his family’s support of the Institute for Pediatric Trauma at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

More than 20 new startup businesses from the Southeast will compete for in excess of $100,000 in cash and in-kind services. Sectors of competition include life sciences, information technology, software-as-a-service, green technology, energy, service, retail and a business plan competition for university student-lead business ideas.
