“Recent Activities of New and Renewable Energy in Jeonbuk Province” by Dr. Woo-Kum Lee

Place: The main conference room at AMRL
Time: 2:00 ~ 3:30 pm, May 7th

Prof. Hong-Ki Lee (director) at the Regional Innovation Center in Woosuk University and Dr. Woo-Kum Lee (director) at Jeonbuk TechnoPark will be provided two presentations at COMSET in CU. They will introduce us their renewable energy programs at Jeonbuk Province in Korea and they are looking for collaborations with CU after the presentations. For your information, the Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Agency has been established by Korean Government (Ministry of Knowledge Economy) for planning of regional industry policy and distributing research fund to the local industries and institutions. Recently, the Renewable Energy Theme Park (located in Jeonbuk Province) is constructed by Korean Government to foster research institutions and industries for renewable energy research (Total budget: $100 Million). Dr. Woo-Kum Lee is in charge of managing this research facilities and industry sector, and he is looking for domestic and foreign partnerships. During the meeting, he will introduce Renewable Energy Theme Park that will be completed by December 2010. In addition, the director of Regional Innovation Center (RIC) for fuel cell, professor Hong-gi Lee, is also looking for partners for the research collaboration. The RIC for fuel cell has been established by Korean Government and started on year 2008. It is supported by Federal and Local Government (Jeonbuk Province) until 2017. The total budget of this project for 10 years is about $16 Million. I appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Sung-O Kim
