“Name Your Team Sweepstakes” winner receives two season tickets for life

HockeyGreenville fans have four weeks to name their team

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 28, 2010 – Since the ECHL’s return to Greenville, there has been a lot of buzz in the community about what the name for the new hockey team will be. Now fans are encouraged to submit their ideas in HockeyGreenville’s “Name Your Team Sweepstakes,” where the grand-prize winner will receive two season tickets for life.

Individuals are encouraged to enter their suggestions for team names, colors and a preferred regional designation, such as “Carolina,” “Greenville” or “Upstate,” online at www.hockeygreenville.com through Friday, May 28. Submissions can also be mailed to: Name Your Team Sweepstakes, HockeyGreenville, PO Box 85, Greenville, SC 29602.

All suggestions will then be presented to a selection committee made up of team owners, as well as area dignitaries, for final determination of the team’s new name.

WHNS Reporter Cody Alcorn, WYFF Sports Director Geoff Hart, WSPA Host Kimberly Kelly and WYFF Anchor/Reporter Angela Rodriguez will serve on the selection committee, as well as other prominent community members.

Individuals who submitted the new team name will be entered into a random drawing, with one grand-prize winner and two second-place winners. The grand-prize winner will also receive a personalized team jersey and participation in opening night activities. Second-place prizes include two tickets to the inaugural home opener and participation in opening night activities.

“Over the past few weeks, we have encountered extremely enthusiastic fans asking about what the new name for the hockey team will be,” said Hockey Greenville owner Neil Smith. “We share their enthusiasm and hope families, friends and hockey fans all will have fun entering their suggestions over the next four weeks.”

The “Name Your Team Sweepstakes” will culminate in a final event to reveal the new name, colors and logo at Main Street Friday in downtown Greenville near the Hyatt, on Friday, June 25.
