GREENVILLE, SC - Dr. Marina Ponton, acupuncture physician and owner of Greenville Natural Health Center, participated in the Society for Acupuncture Research 2010 International Conference hosted by the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill.
The three-day conference focused on how to more quickly bring clinical trials and laboratory research in acupuncture to ‘real world’ patient care. The mission of the Society of Acupuncture Research is to advance scientific inquiry into Oriental medicine, which includes acupuncture and herbal therapy. SAR conferences highlight the latest research in acupuncture and Asian medicine, and disseminate the most recent acupuncture research findings.
A licensed acupuncture physician, Dr. Ponton presently is part of the 2010 Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) class at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland. The highest level of academic achievement presently available to acupuncture practitioners in the United States, a DAOM will allow Dr. Ponton to work on government or privately funded research projects and to teach at the university level.
Dr. Ponton opened Greenville Natural Health Center in 2007, specializing in women’s health and wellness.
