Travelers Rest Bancshares Announces Two New Directors
GREENVILLE, SC – May 11, 2010 – Travelers Rest Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of the Bank of Travelers Rest, announced that two new directors were elected at its Annual Stockholders Meeting held on March 10, 2010. Roy Abercrombie and Chandra Dillard were both elected to one year terms. Board members continuing in office were Ray B. Batson, Julie Godshall Brown, Harry F. Cato, Benjamin N. Cleveland, Gregory L. Coleman, Stephan R. Farr, Richard D. Holcombe, Jr., J. David League, Jr., Dr. Fred D. Pollard, Larry Lee Plumblee and R. Bruce White, Chairman. Each of these directors also serves on the Board of the Bank of Travelers Rest.
Roy Abercrombie joined Colliers Keenan Upstate as Chief Executive Officer and a Principal in 2004. He has a background in banking and real estate, having served as CEO and President of American Federal Bank in Greenville, SC prior to its merger with CCB Financial Corporation. Abercrombie is a graduate of Clemson University and the School for Executive Development at University of Connecticut. In addition to his role as a director for Travelers Rest Bancshares and the Bank of Travelers Rest, Abercrombie is on the board of the Clemson University Foundation and the Clemson University Real Estate Foundation. He is a board member of the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greenville Community Foundation.
Chandra Dillard has been Furman’s Director of Community Relations since May 2004. A Business Administration graduate of Winthrop University, she also holds a Masters of Public Administration from Walden University. She is a graduate of the Richard W. Riley Diversity Leadership Academy of Furman University 2004, Leadership Greenville Class XXVI and Leadership SC 2007. Dillard was elected to Greenville City Council in 1999 where she served until her election to the South Carolina House of Representatives in November 2008. In the House, Dillard serves on the Environmental Affairs subcommittee of the Agriculture committee and is a Commissioner for the South Carolina Housing Commission. In addition to her role as a director for Travelers Rest Bancshares and the Bank of Travelers Rest, Dillard also serves on the board of The Greenville Housing Trust Fund, United Way of Greenville County, Genesis Homes and Phillis Wheatley Association.
Travelers Rest Bancshares, Inc. is the holding company for the Bank of Travelers Rest. The Bank commenced operations in 1946, making it the second oldest bank headquartered in Greenville County.
