Charter buys naming rights to Heritage Park Amphitheater

SIMPSONVILLE, SC – The City of Simpsonville, the Greenville Arena District and Charter Communications have entered into a three-year agreement enabling Charter to become the official naming rights sponsor of Heritage Park Amphitheater.

“Charter’s priority is to be a good community partner; working to support activities, causes and events that connect with Greenville area residents and our employees,” said Anthony Pope, Charter’s Vice President and General Manager for the Carolinas. “The Amphitheater and Heritage Park enhance the quality of life in Greenville by providing affordable recreation and entertainment for everyone.”

The first concert at the newly renamed Charter Amphitheater at Heritage Park will be the Greenville County Recreation District’s “Independence Day at Heritage Park” presented by South Carolina Bank and Trust on July 3. The event will feature a concert by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, live cannons, fireworks, children’s games and much more.

“This partnership will serve to enhance our facility and enable the amphitheater and Heritage Park to continue providing quality services to not only our community, but the many thousands of visitors who pass through its gates each year,” stated Simpsonville Mayor Dennis Waldrop. “We are thrilled to be working with Charter and look forward to what this means for the future of our facility.”

The Charter Amphitheater at Heritage Park features 3,500 fixed seats and 11,700 lawn seats, making it the Upstate’s largest outdoor entertainment venue. It is managed by the Greenville Arena District, which also runs the Bi-Lo Center, on behalf of the City of Simpsonville. Along with the Independence Day event, which drew more than 10,000 people last year, the venue hosts Freedom Weekend Aloft and a variety of concerts featuring national recording acts, most recently the award-winning Zach Brown Band. Other acts that have played the venue include Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, and Styx.
