Black Forest Container Systems Announces Relocation, Expansion in Greenville, SC

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC – June 16, 2010 – The South Carolina Department of Commerce, the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC) and Greenville-based Black Forest Container Systems LLC announces its relocation and expansion to 1186 Pendleton Street in the City of Greenville, South Carolina. As part of the organization’s strategic growth initiatives in North America, the company plans to add at least 10 jobs over the next three years. New capital investment in the expanded operation is estimated at $1.5 million.

Black Forest Container Systems established operations in Greenville County in 2000. As a result of the recent relocation, the company now operates out of the newly renovated, 10,000-square-foot Pendleton Street facility. With particular expertise in the pharmaceutical chemical, agricultural, biotech and food industries, the company provides high-quality, reusable container systems, on a lease of for sale basis. These systems provide optimum solutions for storing, processing and transporting sensitive or hazardous liquid materials and viscous product.

According to company founders Jeff Balck and Tom Leftwich, Black Forest Container Systems chose to further its commitment to Greenville as a result of a combination of factors, including its talented workforce, its accessibility to emerging markets, reasonable costs for conducting business, a temperate climate and high quality of life.

“This effort will markedly improve our new manufacturing process in Greenville County,” said Jeff Balck, CEO for Black Forest Container Systems. “The expansions and improvements here will extend our capabilities and capacity to serve as an innovator and leader in developing cost saving solutions for packaging and processing and provide a highly desirable complement to our stainless steel container systems.”

Tom Leftwich, Chief Operating Officer of Black Forest Container Systems indicated, “Black Forest Container would like to thank Greenville Area Development Corporation and the South Carolina Department of Commerce for their support.”

“South Carolina continues to demonstrate that it is an ideal location from which businesses can grow and prosper. Black Forest Container Systems’ decision to make a new investment in Greenville County is another indication that our state’s business-friendly climate and skilled workforce provide an excellent foundation companies need to be successful. It is these business fundamentals that are helping South Carolina excel in the competition for new jobs and investment. We look forward to Black Forest Container Systems’ growth and wish them continued success in their endeavors here,” said Joe Taylor, Secretary of Commerce.

“Black Forest Container System’s decision to expand here is once again the result of a true team effort,” added Jo Hackl, chairperson of the Greenville Area Development Corporation, who cited collaboration between the City of Greenville, Department of Commerce and GADC. “The company is a home-grown, long-standing, quality corporate citizen of this community, and their growth here in Greenville County affirms that innovative packaging and distribution services can indeed thrive in our state.”

The company plans to begin hiring for expanded operations in mid-third quarter of 2010. The company expects to invite applications for positions through their Web site (http://www.blackforestmktg.com).
