Central Carolina Community Foundation Accepting Nominations for 2010 David W. Robinson Catalyst Award

Columbia, SC (June 16, 2010) – Central Carolina Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization serving 11 counties in the Midlands by helping charitable individuals and businesses meet the needs of our community, is accepting nominations for the 2010 David W. Robinson Catalyst Award, now through Friday, June 25, 2010.

The Catalyst Award is an annual recognition given to a nonprofit organization from the Foundation’s 11–county service area that has identified and responded effectively to a significant contemporary area of concern by mobilizing resources in addition to their own to improve the community.

“There are many deserving organizations working to fulfill the philanthropic needs of the Midlands”,” said JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “We encourage members of our community to nominate an organization that exemplifies the four pillars of this award—commitment, leadership, creativity and vision.”

The nominations, judged by a committee within the Foundation, will be evaluated by the following criteria: the persistent effort of the organization to find a solution to a complex problem, the creativity of the organization to explore alternative approaches, the involvement and participation of other segments of the community in the process, and the specific outcomes and accomplishments to date.

The award was created in memory of David W. Robinson, a founding member of the Foundation and active community leader, and will be presented at the Foundation's Annual Celebration on September 16, 2010. The selected organization will receive a $3,000 unrestricted grant and a recognition plaque.
